Passionate about storytelling and making an impact in Indigenous communities?

We are not a typical consulting firm. We walk alongside communities, offering hands-on, relationship-centred support to secure critical funding for initiatives grounded in culture, language, wellness, infrastructure, and more. 

The Grant Strategist will play a key role in building and growing a relationship with each community/client we support. They will also spend time researching, drafting, and submitting grant proposals aligning with our clients’ goals. This position is ideal for someone with strong writing skills, willing to learn, able to follow detailed instructions (e.g. guidelines, forms, and templates), and a passion for supporting Indigenous communities through storytelling and securing funding opportunities. 

No prior grant writing experience required. Indigenous candidates are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates must have reliable internet.

  • Location: Remote work for Canada-based applicants

  • Employment Type: Full-time, permanent

  • Level: Intermediate (No exp. req., but strong writing skills necessary)

  • Hours: Flexible, 30-35 hours per week.

  • Compensation: $3,500 - $5,000/month (based on experience) + incentive bonuses

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

Community Engagement & Communication

  • Support client relationships by listening to understand priorities and processes.

  • Gathering necessary documentation, understanding community stories, and building rapport.

  • Maintain open, consistent, and regular communication with clients.

Grant Research & Identification

  • Identify new funding opportunities aligning with Indigenous community needs and non-profit goals.

  • Contribute to an updated list of grants in our database, focusing on potential opportunities and deadlines.

Proposal Drafting & Submission

  • Drafting clear, persuasive grant proposals using provided templates and frameworks, with the support of a closed-environment AI, tailoring each application to the funder’s requirements.

  • Reading comprehension to ensure alignment with funders’ guidelines is crucial.

  • Collaborate with the team to refine and finalize proposals, ensuring alignment with each community’s unique needs and voice.

  • Support other team members by reviewing/editing their draft work.

Documentation & Record Keeping

  • Using provided tools (e.g. project management software like Asana), organize and maintain digital records of applications.

  • Assist in maintaining a grants calendar, tracking deadlines, submission status, and follow-up requirements.

Reporting & Compliance

  • Help draft reports for successful grants, ensuring compliance with all requirements.

  • Gather feedback to improve proposal quality for future submissions.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Education: Undergraduate degree in English, Communications, Indigenous Studies, or a related field preferred.

  • Writing Skills: Strong writing and editing abilities with a talent for creating clear, engaging narratives. Experience writing persuasively in academic, journalistic, creative, research papers, reports, or community storytelling is an asset.

  • Detail-Oriented: Attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.

  • Cultural Awareness: We welcome applicants who bring lived experience, knowledge of Indigenous communities, or a passion for active reconciliation.

  • Technical Requirements: Must have a reliable computer and high-speed internet for remote work. Experience using Google Workspace and email professionally. Familiarity with project management tools (Asana, Monday, Trello, ClickUp) is helpful but not required.
